HOW TO START A HEART T' HEART GROUP

Many people write and ask about starting a new Heart t' Heart group.  It is a very simple process.  You will find some suggestions in our pamphlet, How to Start and Maintain a Heart t' Heart Group.

Here are the main steps:

1.  You will want to get one or more copies of our workbook, He Did Deliver Me From Bondage by Colleen C. Harrison.  This is our basic text, and the one we think you will get the most help from.  You can get it for $14.95 (including shipping) from Windhaven Publishing Company, P.O. Box 282, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062, or phone 801-785-8002 (Utah County) or  877-785-8002 (toll-free).  You can also order the book online from Rosehaven Publishing and Distribution.  Books are available at a reduced rate if ordered in quantities of 10 or more.

2.  If you are not sure if you want to start a meeting but would like more information  to help you decide, you can send for a free "Meeting Inquiry Packet" that includes a description of meetings, a sample Heartbeats (newsletter) issue, two pamphlets, "How to Start and Maintain a Heart t' Heart Group" and "Introduction to Heart t' Heart, Questions and Answers."  The packet also includes a Meeting Registration Form and order forms for literature.  If you decide to start a meeting, be sure to send in the registration form so we can put your meeting on our lists and otherwise support you and communicate with your group.

3.  If you are fairly sure you want to start a meeting, we recommend you send instead for the "New Meeting Start-up Information Packet."  We ask a voluntary donation of $10 for this packet.  If you cannot afford this, let us know and we will send it for free.  This packet includes everything in the "New Meeting Inquiry Packet" plus meeting formats, a group handbook, 3 sets of the basic 6 pamphlets plus "How to Start and Maintain a Heart t' Heart Group."  This packet also includes the Group Registration Form.  Again, if you do start a Heart t' Heart group, please register so we can contact and support you.

You can order either packet in any one of these ways:

  a. Order by phone from our distributor, Rosehaven Publishing, at (888)  790-7040.
  b. Visit our Online Store and order by credit card.  (If ordering the free packet, the shopping cart will say the packet costs $1 and will ask your credit card, but that is because the program won't accept a price less than $1.  You won't be charged for the free packet.
  c. Print out a special order form available here.
  d. Include the packet on our regular Literature Order Form.

4.  Find a place to meet.  There are some suggestions in our pamphlet, How to Start and Maintain a Heart t' Heart Group.  You can view and print out a copy by clicking on the pamphlet name.  You need to have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer to view this or other pamphlets from this website.  If you need Adobe Acrobat, you can download it free by clicking here.

5.  Have at least one other person to meet with.  As you share your growth experiences and progress with others, you will find some who are looking for what you are finding through Heart t' Heart.  This is one way your group grows.  The pamphlet has other suggestions.

6.  Other support materials are available that we think you will find helpful:

The monthly newsletter, Heartbeats.  We hope that each group will maintain at least one subscription per group.  This can be shared with other members (and even photocopied).  Of course, some members will want to have their own subscription.

Other literature from our Official and Approved Literature Lists.  These include literature from other 12 Step organizations.  See our page on this at Suggested Reading.

Windhaven Publishing, which publishes He Did Deliver Me From Bondage has a website at http://www.windhavenpublishing.com where you can read more about HDDMFB and other LDS recovery materials.

If you are having any kind of difficulty, please contact us.  We have probably already dealt with it, and would be glad to offer some help.  Write to us by clicking here.
